About Me
George Par, MD is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgery subspecialist. He has been seeing patients in Iowa since 2016 and is proud to be the founder and owner of Par Retina.
Dr. Par graduated Magna Cum Laude and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry at New York University. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine with a combined Research Honors program with a focus on retinal disease. After his preliminary internal medicine year, he completed ophthalmology residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then went on to complete a 2-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center/Illinois Retina Associates in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Par is board certified in ophthalmology with a focus on the medical and surgical management of the retina, including advanced treatments for exudative and nonexudative age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, macular hole, macular pucker and retinal detachment. He is interested in retinal imaging, clinical trials, and innovative vitreoretinal surgical techniques.
Dr. Par is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has published numerous articles and scientific papers. He has been invited to present his research at national and international meetings. He enjoys engaging in peer-to-peer educational meetings both locally and nationally, sharing information about retinal disease states, new products and offering forum for discussion.
He has greatly enjoyed his time in Iowa and looks forward to continuing to help the terrific people in his community.
